Defensive element, mainly in the medieval fortification, adapted primarily for standalone defense. It has characteristic frontal way of defense, both horizontal and vertical. The tower can have a circular, quadrilateral or polygonal shape, sometimes differentiated on different levels. The spur tower is a special form of tower. Unlike the fortified flanking tower, it does not carry flank defense.
