In medieval fortifications, outwardly thickened tower walls, facing the greatest danger of it. In the plan it takes the form of a triangle top. Designed for reflecting attacking missiles and slipping them on sloping walls.
Spur is also the half-pyramid-shaped device, placed on the bottom of curtain or the tower, as a dead-field fill.
